Digitalization is not optional: all companies will be digital sooner rather than later.
In the second decade of the 21st century we are witnessing how ICTs are becoming a strategic competitiveness tool for companies from all sectors. A digital company is the one that uses ICT intensively to compete, making a conscious and systematic effort to, thanks to the information technologies, be more agile, know and have a better relationship with its customers, reduce its costs through the extreme automation of its processes, incorporate technology into its products or services or facilitate the intensive collaboration of its employees.
Digitalization is not optional: all companies will be digital sooner rather than later. Successful companies of the future will be able to develop adaptive strategies, avoid commoditization, create sustainable differentiation, promote a culture of innovation and attract customers and employees. And for this, companies will need to digitalize their portfolios of products and services, the way they do marketing, how they communicate with customers, how they innovate, how they capture knowledge, how they develop their teams. Companies that wish to remain and lead their markets need to define an agenda of digital transformation of their business and operational models, and to develop new skills and knowledge throughout the organization.
